The president of the university wanted an image that showed medical imaging students in action AND the campus, and seeing as how medical imaging students work indoors, I set out to find a room that allowed for a nice view of the campus.

After a brief location scout in a building that had potentially nice views of the campus, I found this classroom with huge windows facing a courtyard, the hill, and another campus building. I had a co-worker stand-in and set a table up on its side with a chair on top to simulate the mobile x-ray machine we’d be using in the final image.

Using a little generative AI in Photoshop, I tweaked the scouting image to create this mock up to present to the “client” in order to get approval to proceed.

And BOOM, the final image, which features a separate plate shot of the background shot from a higher angle in order to see more of the solar farm and to have a better angle on the courtyard (with added generative AI students). The only interior lighting I used were two gelled heads from either side to give a sense of color coming from screens and related machines.
